Elbow Pipes

“Elbow” pipes were widely used throughout Mississippian culture.  They are generally made of fired clay and are gray or tan in color.  Pipes with little or no ornamentation were probably made for personal use.  Those with more ornamentation were probably made for ceremonial or tribal functions.
