Inuit pipes

The Inuit created elaborately decorated and carved pipes from walrus tusks and metals. Some pipes resembled animal shapes and others had carvings of hunting, ceremonies, and mythology. The Inuit had early contact with Asians and, therefore, acquired metal, tobacco, and other technologies before ever meeting a European (Furst and Furst 1982, 138).
