Black and white beaded choker / Unknown
Curatorial Remarks
Chokers were mainly worn by men. Beaded chokers were originally wide spread among North American tribes. Chokers were originally constructed out of bone hair pipes picked up by traders. Bone hair pipe seems to be modeled after wampum. Bone hair pipe was created on a lathe by traders and then sold. While this choker is made of glass beads, bone hair pipe was originally bone. Sac & Fox were located in Kansas before removed to Oklahoma.
