Curatorial Remarks

This wooden utensil is a pounding tool or pot stirrer. The metal loop was used for hanging on a hook of some kind. This utensil could have been used in a contemporary American style kitchen or in a traditional cookhouse. This most likely came from an Osage cookhouse.
