Silver U.S. quarters and bead necklace with a large silver Naja pendant / Native American; Navajo (Diné)
Essay/Description
Squash-blossom style necklace with coins in place of blossom beads. 8 silver U.S. quarters are soldered to triangular, knurled and pierced attachment sections that allow them to be strung on a brown strip of cotton fabric rolled into a cord. The coins are interspersed among hollow silver beads fabricated from two die-stamped domed halves soldered together. The naja is cast. The Barber Liberty quarters range in date from 1892-1899. Two have mint marks, one for New Orleans and one for San Francisco.
