Beaded leather moccasins with copper cones and cuffs / Unknown
Essay/Description
Pair of leather moccasins decorated with v-shaped beaded design on front with white and red sides separated by a single curving line of blue beads on the white background and a single line of curving white beads on the red background. The v-shaped beaded area has the point of the shape at the toe with a beaded red cross-shape outlined in white beads. In between the two lines of the v-shape there is remnants of red pigment on the hide. Along the outer edge of each moccasin there is a row of copper cones from the ankle opening up to the toe area. There are two strips of hide at the front of the ankle opening that fold over onto the front of the foot. There are flaps of hide on both sides of the ankle opening. These flaps are edged in a beaded strip of a white background with zig-zag single line of blue beads with single red beads along the outer edges in a pattern. At the back of the angle there is a group of hide fringe that is attached in between where the two flaps meet. Some of the hide fringe is twisted.
