April 8, 1926.   Mr. Townsend,          Editor “Country Life”,                   Garden City, N. Y.                                   Dear Mr. Townsend:                                                                   Your telegram, after visiting Great   Falls, Salt Lake and Butte, finally reached us here in Hol-   lywood. The name of the man who has the Russell collection   and is a friend of ours, as well as of Frank Chapman, is Mal-   colm S. MacKay. He lives Tenafly, New Jersey. However[xm]   his office address is MacKay Co. 14 Wall Street, New York.    You can get in touch with him there.                    Another man who has two of Charlie’s pictures, one oil   and one water-color, is George D. Sack, who is going to get   in touch with you as soon as he gets home, or back to New   York from the Grand Canyon, where he will be about two    weeks. We like the pictures that he has very much and he   will be delighted to let you use them. We, of course, hold   the copyright on all these things.                                                   -2-                     I have a letter from Mr. Maule regarding the proposed   books, by and on Mr. Russell. It sounds very interesting    and we hope to work it out. So, as a suggestion, and start-   er on the book paintings, could the plates that are made to    use in “Country Life” be a suitable size to use in our new    book? In that way you would save some little expense in    plate making, and I have the permission of Mr. MacKay, as   well as of Mr. Sack, to use their pictures.    Sincerely,
