Trail’s End, 725 Michigan Blvd., Pasadena, California. October 23, 1938. Mr. W. S. Hart, Astor Hotel Times Square New York, N. Y. Dear Bill: Your letter of October 20th has been read several times and it was such a comforting letter. The last few days I have been working on the descriptions of the pictures, and the memory of Charlie has been so strong in my mind. He always was so encouraging in anything I tried to do. It will be twelve years Monday, the 24th since Charlie left me. I think I have a pretty good idea about the pictures, and I am looking forward to a pow-wow with you when you arrive home. I am delighted your business in New York should be finished this week. I am sure it has been very annoying for you to wait so long but you soon will be through and ready to come home. Won’t you and Mamie be pleased to see the lovely house on the hill. Would you like to let me know the train, date, time and station of your arrival. Also, would you like to have an ambulance there to meet Mamie and take her home. If so, my nurse would be glad to make arrangements for the same ambulance that brought me home from the hospital. The men that operate the ambulance could lift Mamie carefully and get her home without any exertion. Jack and Betty were married this morning. I am a little bit weepy, but I am not going to spoil their happiness. I shall be praying for you on Monday that all things go well for you. With love to you and Mamie. Sincerely yours, AIR MAIL
