Dear Malc: For your information, I do not know a thing in the world about Mr. Barton. I met him in a most casual way and his acquaintance with Charlie was also limited. He is a good talker and we enjoyed hear- i ng him talk on China. In this deal, your judgment of human nature is to be followed entirely because I cannot give you any definite information concerning the man. I hope this summer I shall see the MacKay family be- cause I certainly would like to talk with you on many subjects which are important to me and I always feel that you and Helen can give me more real bedrock to stand on than anybody else.
