[1] Dec 8th 1920 My dear Folks- Yes, you bet, you must come and camp with us in our new Teepee- Its just south of the old one –next door- We have saved a space over the fire place in the Russell room where we want Charley to do some sort of a design- a relief, in plaster, colored if possible – I would say the space is about 3x5 ft – I would prefer something of cowboy life – Tell Charley to give his imagination a slack rope till he creates something, then snug it up good and hard, make it swap ends a time or two, Put the C.M.R. brand on it, and I know it will be wonder- I have just had a [2] talk with mr Babcock about the exhibition question- He says that his books show that he has sold just as many pictures during the past year as he has in any years previous – He says no exhibition is successful unless pushed hard and people are informed just what they are getting – I think he is right- I think he is a hard man to beat he said he would be glad to hear from you- He suggested that most of the pictures be of moderate or small size with possibly one or two large ones – As you know, then are many more people to buy the smaller and less expensive pictures – many more – its like selling the Ford Auto. Times are bad here, but I think only temporarily so, I look for a strong resumption of business next spring- lots of people have money now that did not have before and I really do not think the picture trade feels it one way or the other- Hope to hear from you all again Best wishes to you all from us all [signed] Malcolm S. MacKay
