Pasedena, California Dear Mrs. Russell: I have three Russell paintings, namely The Bear, Scouts, oil paintings, and A Buffalo Herd, a water color. I have no room for these in my house and have to store them. They are too valuable to be in storage and should be owned by some onw[sic] who has a place for them or where they could be on proper exhibition. I have been corresponding with a Mr. Cowie of the Biltmore Salon, at the Biltmore Hotel. I understand he is making a specialty of Russell pictures and that he has some on exhibition and sold a good many for you. Will you please inform me whether or not, in your opinion, this is a responsible concern and safe to en- trust with those pictures. ^I^ am advised that you have had some dealings with them and know something about their financial and other responsibility and would like to know whether or not your dealings with them (next) Mrs. Russell 10/26/29. p.2. have been entirely satisfactory. I dislike very much to part with those pictures but as ^I^ have no place in my house for them they should be in somebody’s hands who has a place for them and where and where they can be on exhibition. Mr. Russell’s pictures should not be in storage. They are too valuable and should be where they can be seen. You probably do not remember me but I have met you on several occasions and was a friend of long standing of Mr. Russell’s.
