Cautivos / Carlos Orozco Romero

Gallery Label

What invisible force seems to hold these large animals in a small, circular pen? Beyond its confines, a hand shoots up in the air and a set of eyes peer from the dark edge, leaving us to draw our own conclusions about the meaning of this dream-like painting. Artist Carlos Orozco Romero was influenced by European Surrealists and often combined real elements with logic-defying fantasy.
