Signed, "J.H.Sharp.05." in lower right; Inscribed in pencil on paper attached to dust cover, "1905 Chief Standing Soldier. Sioux. "Another warrior of reputation. Many of the noted Sioux were painted at Pine Ridge -1905-6 Red Cloud, Sitting Bull & etc. Lived around there after one or two painted it was easy to get most of the others. Most of them wanted to dress up in old time regalia, or have something on representing their past greatness" on verso.
