Feria / Mariano Paredes

Gallery Label

Clusters of people outside fair pavilions are defined by energetic brushstrokes and dramatic contrast. Off to one side, women peer inside an illuminated portal and children run from tent to tent. Mariano Paredes Limón draws our attention to a cavorting crowd through the rhythmic repetition of men and women dressed in white and the outstretched arms of two central figures, bare feet denoting their humble origins. With minimal details, the artist captures the vitality of this gathering.
