Proctor made studies for this work on a hunting trip to Montana Territory in 1895. Although Gorham’s optimistic assignment of the code QUD on January 28, 1914, indicated plans for a series, only two bronzes are known to exist of this work, both in the Gilcrease collection (0826.77, 0826.78). Gorham records show the title as “Aims Backward.”
