Stone experimented with the effect using the cherry and the torch burned cherry in order to get the color variation in a black and tan hound.

Curatorial Remarks

In a 1982 interview, the artist said the base of this is un-burned Cherry wood and the figure is Cherry wood which was burned with a torch.
