The Fallen Warrior
Mourning Her Brave
War Widows / Willard Stone
Gallery Label
At the end of World War II a lot of women had lost their husbands. This represents the grief they felt from their losses. The multi-figures represent the great number of grieving widows at the end of the war. The small figures are not children, but are just more wives. The long line represents the wives disappearing in the distance—perspective symbolism.
