Birth of Atomic Energy / Willard Stone

Gallery Label

...my conception of science splitting the atom. Along about 1936 when the scientists cracked the atom, it hit the headlines. It scared people to death, but look what they are doing with it today, using it for peaceful things. The hands are the scientist working on cracking the atom; the arms represent Russians and Americans.

From the exhibition: Willard Stone: Following the Grain, 2016.
