This Choctaw woman was Carl Albert's fellow student in a one-room school at Bug-Tussell, Oklahoma" in left portrait; Inscribed on mat, "Navajo. Awee, Navajo for baby, was held by his mother as I sketched him for the Oklahoma Capitol Mural. His "mural mother" is the Plains' Madonna. I don't believe he knows millions of people have seen the painting for I never saw him again and at this writing he must be 10 yrs old" in lower right; Inscribed, "#49" in lower left.
