Easton pa. / Thomas Moran

Curatorial Remarks

Formerly attributed to Thomas Moran, this sketch has been reattributed to Mary Nimmo Moran. Conservation assessment reveals the work is on the same paper Mary Nimmo Moran used for her graphite sketch 13.542 Mt. Parnassus which is near Easton, Pennylvania. Mary Nimmo Moran stayed in Easton, Pennyslvania with her aunt and uncle when her husband Thomas Moran was away on sketching trips. In addition to sketching in Easton, Mary sketched throughout the Lehigh Valley during the summer of 1873 and 1875. During the summer of 1879 and 1881 she sketched and etched Easton and the surrounding area. SPauly 3.10.22
