David Crockett / S. S. Osgood

Davy Crockett (1786-1836) was an influential politician during the Early Republic period of American history. A United States congressman from Tennessee, Crockett firmly opposed Cherokee removal; indeed, he was the only representative from Tennessee to vote against the Indian Removal Act.
