Scope and Content Notes

Major George W. Clarke was the Quarter Master at Fort Smith and Colonel John Drew was with the Cherokee Mounted Rifles. Major Clarke ordered Colonel John Drew to instruct his Quartermaster or Commissary to purchase fresh beef and salt at the lowest price in the open market. Major Clarke instructs that the purchase will be used for rations. Folder 275
