Moty Kanard and Echo Harjo were the Principal Chiefs of the Creek Nation. The Chiefs were asking Colonel Drew to come to their aid to repel expected attach by dissatisfied portion of the Creeks led by Hopoieth Yahola [sic] and Ok-tar-hars Harjo with their allies.
