Smith Christie was the acting Principal Chief. Christie was asking Ross to visit General Curtis in Leavenworth. Christie was also seeking protection for loyal Cherokee farmers and urging Superintendents of Indian Affairs to supply bread stuffs to the destitute people. Folder 326
