Subpoena for Mrs. Amanda Wooten to appear in court to answer Elias Wotten's suit for divorce and the jury ruling of the case

Scope and Content Notes

Subpoena stated that Amanda Wooten was to personally appear in court on the first Monday in January 1874. The subpoena stated that Elias H. Wooten alleged that he was lawfully married to Amanda Wooten on December 17, 1871. Amanda willfully abandoned him about the 10th of April 1872 and had since willfully neglected the duties of the married state. On verso, the subpoena was served on the 28th of November 1873 by Sheriff Stan Gray. Also on verso, The jury ruling stated, "We the jury unanimously decide that the plaintiff is entitled to a divorce from the bonds of matrimony January 5th 1874". Signed by J. H.
