Letter from I. W. Bertholf to Wm. R. West concerning mistake in stray stock list

Scope and Content Notes

Letter was written to Honorable William R. West, Sheriff of the Canadian District of the Cherokee Nation, by I. W. Bertolf. Bertolf informed West that a head of cattle that was listed as running on his property was incorrect. The head of cattle in question was actually a cow Bertolf had milked for two summer that he drove from the Creek Nation. The cow belonged to an old lady in the Creek nation who knew of the cows whereabouts and was satisfied. The cow had been returned to the Creek Nation. Folder 488
