Effigy Jar -- Medium sized effigy bottle of dark gray ware; neck forming a human head with pointed headdress, opening at mouth of human face; mouth large and round.
Bell Plain pottery type -- Bell Plain is prevalent at sites along the Mississippi River in Arkansas. It has finely crushed shell temper, a well-polished to highly polished surface, and varies in color from shades of gray to buff to orange (pp 10-12, Hathcock, Roy).

Bell Plain (Phillips 1970:58-61) hooded bottle with conical head with four appliqued ridges with notching, and appliqued eyes. Opening at one side of the head with direct rim and rounded lip. Ovoid body and flat circular base. 10YR 4/1 Dark Gray.
