Ceramic vessel. The legs are hollow with a partial opening along the front; one small ceramic ball is within each leg and creates a sound when moved.

The shape of this plumbate jar recalls the form of a squash, a primary food from the Americas, and a gourd, which have functioned as vessels for food from pre-Hispanic times to today. Many post-revolutionary artists held objects such as this vessel in their personal collections.

La forma de esta jarra de plumbato recuerda la de una calabaza, uno de los alimentos básicos de las Américas y que también ha funcionado, en algunas de sus variedades, como vasija para comida desde la época prehispánica hasta hoy. Muchos artistas posrevolucionarios guardaban objetos como esta vasija en sus colecciones personales.
