Essay/Description

Funerary sculpture. Ixtlan del Rio style. Ceremonial center model. Stepped circular pyramid altar with four covered buildings symmetrically placed at perimeter. Human form near rim. Model rests on raised base with four legs. Painted details on roofs and building platforms. This model replicates the ritual centers used throughout the Teuchitlan tradition spheres of influence.

Ixtlan del Rio style indicates the predominant style of ceramics associated with the workshops of the Ixtlan del Rio region of Nayarit, Mexico.
