The Anasazi developed gray pottery around 500 CE and began decorating it with black designs in 600 CE. They had more complicated designs and corrugated pottery by 850 CE. In later years, the Anasazi developed a white slip and darker black pigments. Not too long before they disappeared, they began creating redware (Hayes and Blom 1996, 28).
