Curatorial Remarks

The Maricopa have lived south of Phoenix on the Salt River since the 19th century when they were moved to the Pima reservation. During the early 20th century, the Maricopa produced large amounts of pottery for commercial sale to tourists. Maricopa language is not related to Pima. The Maricopa are not related to the Apache.
