Sterling silver earrings / Raye Johnson

Essay/Description

20-petal round pin forms base for earring and post. Matched symmetrical earrings of sterling silver. Round pin id domes and stamped in abstract of peyote cactus button, also textured from electric engraver. 20th petal forms loop for tipi "drop". Tipi pole forms loop to attach to pin. 7 poles from tipi top, view of door side with ground stakes and vertical seam stakes in stamped detail, doorway and smoke flaps also stamped detail. Waterbird is cut and stamped in German silver style with tail as separate pendant. Texture from electric engraver on body and tail feather tips. Stamping forms small Christian cross on water bird body. Body slightly domed, wings domed, and tips cupped, tail is domed along length. Bird's "beak" is loop attaching to "doorway" area of tipi. Tipi also domed with tipi form. On back of each tipi and waterbird body is stamped "Sterling" (commercial stamp) and maker's hallmark "RJ".
