Dalton lance or spear point were named by Carl H. Chapman (1948).

The blade (above the shoulder) typically has concave or straight edges. The base edge (below the shoulder) is concave and thinned, with a small flute. The base has a concave base and sides and is sometimes described as a “fishtail’ form.
