Curatorial Remarks

Stacked coiled basket. The sticks have been stacked and then flattened and sewn with yucca. Yucca is very delicate than other materials. Stacked coil construction is unique to Mescalero Apache and the Tohono O'odham (Papago). Yucca is used throughout the Southwest.
