Large coiled sumac basket tray with diamond shaped geometric designs
Large coiled jug shaped basket with finger woven tumpline and horsehair lugs
Water jug basket pitched in pine with horsehair lugs / Unknown
Essay/Description
Pithced in pinion pine.
Curatorial Remarks
Yucca was not used in the making of this basket. The basket was most likely made from sumac or willow. A water basket made from yucca is not common. It's purpose was for domestic tasks. The red coloring comes from a stain that was then covered in pine pitch. The crude coil construction is indicative of the Jicarilla.
