Single weave rivercane sewing basket with aniline dye / Susan Denson

Essay/Description

Single weave rivercane sewing basket with hinged lid. Body of basket has two natural cane loops on either side for handles and diagonal hatch stripes of black, red, blue, and green staggered above and below four diagonal hatched "X" elements comprised of rows containing some black, red, blue, and green and loop on front secures lid which is tied to back of basket with cane in two places. Lid has border of diagonal twining and rows of maroon, green, red, and black alternating with natural cane forming medallion of natural cane where start is in the center. Loop forms on front to form closure.
