Essay/Description
Shield
Curatorial Remarks
The design indicates that a particular man owned the shield. The design elements have supernatural meaning to the owner of the shield. This shield may have been created for commercial sale because it is miniature. A shield would hang outside of a tipi to indicate who lived there.
