Silver cuff bracelet with large applied flower with bezel-set turquoise / Native American; Navajo (Diné)

Essay/Description

This bracelet appears to have a matching ring: 84.1401. Cuff is formed of three pieces of heavy gauge silver wire, circular in cross-section, that are completely covered with applied decoration. Applied to the cuff with solder is an elaborate flower made of sheet silver and decorated with applied wire. The flower has two layers of petals both embellished with fine gauge twisted and untwisted wire square in cross-section. Eleven bezel-set cabochon turquoise stones adorn each of the upper layer of petals and the center of the flower. Flanking the flower and covering the cuff wires are two sections of foliage applied with solder. These resemble acanthus leaves and are embellished with twished wire, untwisted wire square in cross section and lines of silver balls.
