Silver wire cuff bracelet with large oval turquoise set in elaborate bezel / Native American; Navajo (Diné)

Essay/Description

Cuff framework is composed of three heavy gauge wires, triangular in cross-section, interspersed with two twisted wires, round in cross-section. The large cabochon stone is set in an elaborate scalloped bezel surrounded by four concentric ovals of decoration: twisted wire, balls, twisted wire, scalloped edge of backing. All but the backing edge decoration were attached with solder. Further applied decoration in the shape of tulips is soldered to the cuff flanking the stone. Both tulips, the scalloped bezel and scalloped backing edge have been further decorated with punched geometric designs.
