Man's beaded and quilled hide shirt / Unknown
Essay/Description
Man's buck hide shirt with interlaced porcupine quillwork and beaded design. There is fringe on the sleeves, hem, and elsewhere on the shirt. The quillwork creates a geometric design in light blue, light purple, red, and yellow. There are crosses made of green and red beads.
Curatorial Remarks
The quillwork seems to be made separately from the rest of the shirt and attached afterward. The quillwork is more common amongst Northern Plains Tribes. The collar on this shirt seems to have European stylistic influence.
