Bow, Quiver, and Arrows / Unidentified
Curatorial Remarks
The bow is recurved. In the 1890s, "Indian dens" full of Native American material culture became very popular. This began around 1876 with the centennial celebration. A lot of tribal material culture was sold to tourists on tours of Wild West shows.Tags: bow, arrow, quiverPeople: Plains TribesPlaces: PlainsPurpose: domestic use, possibly commercial saleFrom interviews with Dr. Garrick Bailey, 2018-2020 University of Tulsa, Professor Emeritus of Anthropology
