Curatorial Remarks

The red cloth visible via the bottom of the basket indicates that this is Western Apache. The design is standard of the Apache. This would have been used during harvest to collect seeds, etc... The fringe indicates that this basket was more likely to have been used for a ceremonial event. It's not practical to have all of the fringe hanging off the side if used in the fields.
