Essay/Description
Beaded leather moccasins. White beaded field with zoomorphic designs around perimeter. Lane of beadwork up the seam of the cuff. Geometric designs across the vamp and around the cuff. Beaded tongue with geometric designs. Row of red and white beads on the top of the cuff. All beading done with lazy stitch.
Curatorial Remarks
These are a 20th century ceremonial event pair of moccasins. They are fully beaded with horse designs. The horse beadwork designs didn't appear until the 20th century. Cotton was used instead of sinew to sew the beads onto the leather.
