Essay/Description

This Osage child's dance outfit consists of a vest, pair of leggings, breechcloth and a sash. The vest is made out of blue stroud wool with silk cutout designs of purple, pale green, cerise, and yellow. The linging is pink and purple. The pair of leggings of is made from stroud cloth with silk cutout designs of purple, pale green, cerise, and yellow, edged with white beads.

Curatorial Remarks

It is not typical to see a vest worn with a straight dance outfit. Usually, a shirt was worn as part of the outfit.
