Essay/Description

Beaded leather moccasins. Perimeter has a white beaded background with mountain designs. Vamp has a buffalo print in green beading and a zoomorphic design in the center. Lane of beadwork across instep. All beadwork done with lazy stitch.

Curatorial Remarks

These men's 20th century moccasins are possibly Arapaho, Cheyenne or Sioux. Many of the Cheyenne moccasins are unisex. The sole may have been made of parfleche indicated by the lines on the bottom of the foot. The lines could also be indication of wear.
