Hard soled beaded leather moccasins with fringe and vermillion pigment / Unknown
Essay/Description
Hard soled beaded leather moccasins with geometric designs on the vamp and sides of the shoes. Fringe decorate the exterior and rear of the moccasins. The stitching of the beads was done with the lazy stitch approach in order to allow it to be mended easier.
Curatorial Remarks
Osage use this style of moccasins by around 1900. This style of moccasins is pretty well associated with peyote church.
