Curatorial Remarks

Used 20th century moccasins during pow wows. This is an example of pan-Indian evident through the Sioux style beadwork. When the 20th century begins, cultural exchange of styles between tribes occur.

Plains boots

Some Plains Indian women wore boots, which were essentially moccasins combined with leggings. They decorated the boots with quill or bead work, painted designs, or even silver medallions (“conchas”) from the Southwest (Paterek 1994).
