Man's blue and red silk ribbon shirt with shells / Carol King Rachlin

Essay/Description

Navy blue shirt with red ribbon work

Curatorial Remarks

"This shirt is associated with the Five Civilized Tribes."

Dr. Garrick Bailey, Professor of Anthropology for The University of Tulsa, 2018

This man's shirt was worn during straight dances. The cowry shell decorations are unusual. This may be modeled after the style of a 19th century military uniform.
