Fairdale, No. Dak. Jan, 7th, 1928. Mrs.Charles.M.Russell. Great.Falls.Mont. Dear Madam: Have you any of the late Mr Russells[sic] canvases for sale? If not I would like to purchase some pen and ink sketches. In regard to the canaves[sic] I am willing to pay a high price in securing a work from the brush of Mr[sic] Russell. I have in my possession a great number of reproductions of your husbands paintings. I have gathered practically all the prints from 1901 to1912.[sic] This kind of Art is second nature to me, having spent ten years among the Blood Indians of southern Alberta. The old range days have disappeared, but thank God there is one man that has recorded the way of the Plain’s people. I did not know Mr[sic] russell personaly[sic], but I was interduced[sic] to him the time of the Stampede in Calgary, Alta.1914. Please let me know regarding this matter at the earliest possible date. I am, Very truly yours, [signed] John Mead
