Dear Mr. Budd: I am enclosing some clippings from the “Los Angeles Times” which will explain better than I can the con- troversy that is going on over the choice of model which is to represent Charlie in the National Hall of Fame. There is no one connected with the State of Montana who has more influence and power over its political organi- zation than you have and your desire should be con- sidered. When you see the cut you cannot but see the weakness of the model. Isn’t there something you can do which would help the Commission to reconsider and start all over a- gain? A word of protest from you to the Governor would carry great weight and I am sure he needs only the support of friends of Charlie’s who do understand how important this model is. It is not only Charlie and Montana but also the Nation which will be affected and a truly fine piece of art should be chosen of which we might all be proud.
